Unit CVOR Tech
• # Suites 2 dedicated heart rooms/ 1 Hybrid suite and 1-2 open surgical rooms for various cases
• Average # of cases per day varied Vascular/thoracic and heart cases scheduled each day throughout the week
• Required Certifications BLS. Must graduate from an accredited school.
• Common Cases CABG/Valve replacement/Carotid Endarterectomy/Fem-pop bypass/Angios/thoracotomy
• Experience or 'Must have' skills Must have experience scrubbing vascular cases, heart cases and thoracic cases. Does not cover sterile processing.
• Is there a Charge Nurse/House Supervisor on each shift? Charge nurse/CVOR Coordinator and house supervisor available every day
• Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) Scheduling is done by CVOR coordinator, usually have the same day off each week or adjusted based on census- 4-10 hour shifts
• Weeknight/Call Requirements Call is typically 1 day a week, call starts at 5pm-7am
• Weekend/Call Requirements Call is typically 1 weekend a month
• Holiday/Call Requirements No holiday call requirements as a traveler but will allow them to pick up if desired
• What is call response time? 30 minutes in the OR dressed and ready to go
• Floating Requirements may have to float to Main OR if CVOR census low (this is rare)
• Scrub Color/Dress Code scrubs provided by Methodist Hospital on arrival
• Unit/Department specific orientation Orient with other CVOR surgical tech for a few days
• Additional Notes Team approach. Extend travelers. Very traveler friendly facility. Looking for someone that can go with the flow, jump in and be a team player when needed. Someone flexible and willing to pick up call as needed
