PURPOSE:
A good front end developer should always be interested in learning about new technologies and understand that "frameworks" come and go, but having a good foundation in basics like JavaScript and CSS and the underlying concepts that drive each will allow you to thrive in a new technology where others might struggle. At Hyatt we are looking for individuals that are curious not only about what the latest hot framework is, but also about how it works and what concepts are used to drive it.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Implement guest facing user experiences using a mix of front-end technologies based in JavaScript and CSS.
• Work with UX team to implement responsive designs that follow a "mobile-first" methodology.
• Adhere to coding standards to write code that is understandable by everyone on the team.
• Write unit tests that emphasize "quality" over "line coverage".
• Communicate with other developers both on your team and other teams throughout the organization.
• Visual "eye" for breaking down a "comp" into its individual UI components in order to articulate the implementation details when requested.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
• Good foundation with both JavaScript and CSS.
• Minimum 1 year experience developing responsive websites.
• Working knowledge of browser debugging tools.
• Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills.
• Ability to maintain pleasant working relationships.

PREFERRED SKILLS:
• Know just enough of 1 or more JavaScript frameworks such as React or Angular to be dangerous.
• Experience working with CSS preprocessors such as LESS or SASS.
• Understanding of source control management systems such as Git.
