Borsheims is looking for a full-time Security Officer to join our team. At Borsheims, we take pride in providing our Signature Service to every customer, and you will play a vital role in helping us do that.

Our Security Officers are responsible for providing an armed presence to ensure a safe and secure environment and to protect company property and employees. If you have prior security or military experience and enjoy providing a secure and safe environment, you may be the gem we’ve been searching for!

You Are:

Observant. Provides an armed presence and maintains a constant state of awareness to protect company property and employees. Monitors the store’s surveillance system.
Perceptive. Reacts appropriately to any situation that may arise. Follows the security department’s standard operating procedures or directions by security team members. Conducts initial inquiries and completes appropriate reports.
Analytical. Responsible for investigating missing merchandise by reviewing surveillance, performing investigation, tracking the movement of missing merchandise throughout the store, and reporting findings to management.
Helpful. Greets visitors and vendors. Answers questions, contacts appropriate team members, logs visitors, and issues visitor passes.
Informed. Maintains knowledge of current state statutes and city ordinances regulating security in the private sector, including “Merchants Privilege” and “Use of Force.” Understands Federal OSHA regulations pertaining to retail operations. Recognizes safety concerns and addresses them.
Certified. Carries an approved firearm. Maintains certification in firearm safety and participates in annual qualification in accordance with established standard operating procedures. Maintains CPR, First Aid, AED, and Blood Borne Pathogens certifications.

Essential Job Functions:

Ability to work assigned schedule on a regular basis.
Ability to communicate with customers, co-workers, and business contacts in a clear, concise, courteous, and professional manner.
Ability to see well enough to observe and evaluate security risks with and without the aid of electronic surveillance systems.
Ability to hear and speak well enough to converse with others in person, via wireless radio, via telephone and paging system without the aid of electronic amplification.
Ability to maintain constant state of awareness for extended periods of time.
Ability to move about the store from department to department, get behind narrow counter areas, bend down or reach up into drawers/shelves and make numerous trips up and down a flight of stairs.
Ability to maintain weapons certification and safely operate a weapon; ability to maintain certification in CPR, first aid and AED.
Ability to think under pressure and maintain composure in stressful situations.
Ability to assume a leadership role in making decisions and effectively handling situations.
Dexterity to write in small print, operate a weapon, operate a CCTV system, operate a computer keyboard, operate office equipment, and handle small jewelry/gift items.
Stamina to stand, walk or sit for extended periods of time.
Ability to wear a uniform at all times. Uniform includes utility belt containing baton, flashlight, service weapon, etc. (weighing up to 25 pounds).
Ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs.
